Welcome to CBGC Softball

Welcome to the Softball program of the Clinton Boys and Girls Club (CBGC), better known as the Clinton Jets, where the focus is on the growth and development of our community's young female athletes. SPORTS SEASON

Spring - Recreational and Competitive League

The Spring Baseball Season runs from mid-April to mid-June and has two practices per week and games on weekends and weeknights.

Fall - Intramural (In-House) IMBS Program

Our Intramural (IMBS) Baseball and Softball program is an in-house developmental baseball program held during the Fall season. When we say "in-house" it means we train and play games only with those who are part of the IMBS program. It is "developmental" because we focus on the fundamentals that are appropriate based on their age and experience.

The FALL IMB program is structured to provide quality.

  • Technical training to learn the basics of baseball and softball
  • Competitive matches against other CBGC teams (including some outside games, as available)
  • Developmental learning in preparation for the Spring season

Note: Season will run from August through October. Practice days will vary by age divisions.

GEAR REQUIRED

Baseball Glove – No single item is more important to your child's success and enjoyment with baseball or softball than a functioning glove. You don't need the most expensive mitt for the first-time buyer and a new player. However, the right size mitt properly broken in can be your player's best friend for several seasons.

Batting Helmet – Similar to a glove, no single item is more important to your child's SAFETY than a good helmet.  Helmets come in several sizes, with fit being the most important aspect.  CBGC requires only baseball helmets with a faceguard or c-flap to be used.  Helmets are used anytime a player is handling a bat and running the bases; as mentioned, fit and comfort are extremely important to ensure the proper function of the helmet.

Face Mask – Face masks are required for practices and games.

Cleats – Cleats are a must-buy to ensure your players get the grip they need on the diamond.  Fit is the most important aspect here. Beyond that, you probably are familiar with how to shop for shoes for your child!

Protective Cup – Cups are strongly recommended for boys of all ages. Baseballs can hurt!

Thermal long-sleeve undershirt – This is optional but strongly recommended.  Especially during the colder months, it can be cold out on the field.  Sweatshirts are acceptable; however not recommended as they are typically worn under the jersey and can restrict movement.

CBGC Provides:
Hat, Jersey, Pants, and Socks.

CLINTON JETS TRAVEL BASEBALL PROGRAM

The Clinton Jets offers players in select grade levels the opportunity to be selected for the All-Star Team.  This program is run after the regular spring season. Participation is optional and the baseball commissioner should be contacted about whether all-stars are being offered and the selection process.

The Clinton Jets travel softball program (8U - 12U) is designed to provide a higher level of training and competition to those athletes that have a desire to develop their skills beyond the level of what our recreational program allows.  There is an additional assessment for the travel teams.  Players will be selected by team tryouts.

SEVERE WEATHER POLICY

The decision as to whether fields are playable rests with the Clinton Jets staff or League representative.

No outdoor practice or game shall begin with a STORM WARNING (thunderstorm/Tornado) in effect at the start time of said practice/game.

Mandatory 30-minute wait when lightning and/or thunder is observed. Fields must be cleared. This 30-minute wait will restart at each observed lightning and/or thunder.
